But its hard for an amateur like me to draw blondes.
Orz
my palette for skin consists of a very light base color, and not very contrasting shades. Its for effect, Orz so that the eyes/elaborate details on cloths stand out moar.
but I can't draw blondes because then it looks pale and weird. T-T
Blondes can be annoying to paint for sure. Well I see you have a point. I still think skin and hair are sorta the hardest to paint/balance their colors but the most important part of a character. The trick I do (I learned it from DA actually! and so many other pros) is....I often use a really light base color as well... Sometimes, if I'm careful (which is...ahem..RARE) I use a midtone as base color. Its's hard to balance in the beginning but anyway, lets say I chose light pink as base, when I choose the first shading color, I move the hue wheel a bit to the more 'red' parts, not so much, and choose a highly saturated dark red, almost brown. When I choose highlights, I go the other way to the yellows and oranges. When it comes to tanned people, I start by darker red/low saturated brown. and so on with all colors. With hair. I ALWAYS use the darkest color first then start shaping the hair. I don't draw TINY strands, I like it in parts more. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG! My keyboard crashed and I miss typing hahaha
lololol dun worry bout it. ouo;; I missed hearing from you. C':
I just found this great palette for skin- its shiny and awesome, and it uses a lot of highly saturated colors like red, but it doesn't look overwhelming at all. C: it looks great. I struggled to make the gradient blend, tho, because there's a white to highly saturated red/pink/purple mix and the colors in between were impossible to find. Orz I redid the legs 5 times, made huge changes to the chest like half a dozen times (mostly coz I removed an object that she was supposed to be holding and it looked empty, then changed the legs around again because in the lineart, I made this ribbon too thick and ignored the white in the middle of the lineart (is wat I'm saying making sense?), then when it was time to delete the vector, there turned out a big white spot in the middle. ;; I made her wear this stupid jumpsuit coz I thought it'd look great, but I overlooked one very important part. ;; I can't color. Orz. then I derped on the bangs and had to delete the face (not that it was any good, since I started the face first), but even nao the hair looks horrible coz she has a lot of dark tones and looks like a witch with black hair, and I'm not risking it with blonde.. ;;; originally, she was the queen of carnivals, but nvm. nao she's the queen of ice. ;;
omg sounds cool. I love highly saturated colors! well it depends on how you blend maybe, you blend manually or with all the blurr and watercolor brushes? according to my style I blend manually with a low opacity traditional brush looking brush. (okay, wonderful rhyme! xD) And if you use white, just use it in tiny amounts like the glitter on the skin and such. Ik how it feels! I do that all the time when I am painting a complex piece. Actually.... I LOVE her outfit! AND bangs. cause I'm a too complicated person and can't draw simple or decent hair omg no you're not! and about the vector...you mean lineart yeah? if so, what I do is that I copy the lineart layer, lower the opaccity of one and color on the one under then paint normally, sometimes I draw the lines with the painting brush if I'm too lazy to blend things properly lazy butt hahahahah noooo I like the hair, you just need to add a bit of darker tones to give it volume. SWEET I'm interested! I wanna know more
